CMC GARAGE SALE - June 3, 8 am - 3:30 pm

For many years, Christ Moravian Church has held an annual Garage Sale. “Garage Sale” is a misnomer as it has expanded to a 6500 square foot tent filled with thousands of items for sale at a very low cost. It is a one-day sale held on the first Saturday in June which in 2023 falls on June 3. 

This community engagement event is our way of giving back to the community and providing an opportunity for community members to come together. The sale is well known and attracts over 1,000 people annually. It has a festive atmosphere with a bouncy house and face painting provided free for children. Baking, hot dogs and hamburgers are available for purchase at a low cost. 

The sale provides a service to members of the surrounding communities of Acadia, Willow Park, Mapleridge and Lake Bonavista who wish to find a new home for gently used items they no longer want. Many new Canadian families and those living on low incomes use this sale as an opportunity to acquire low-cost items that are needed for their homes. Unsold items are given away for free towards the end of the sale or are donated to other charities. 

Proceeds from this event go to offsetting sale expenses, including the costly tent rental. The balance will be split between church operations and support for local and global charities. Christ Moravian Church is a strong supporter of the Acadia Food Pantry, Acadia Place, Mustard Seed, Calgary Food Bank, refugees to Canada and global disaster response. 

Donations will be received 9 am to 9 pm beginning Monday, May 29.  This event is a huge undertaking and requires at least 20 volunteers every day before the sale and 30 volunteers on sale day.
